- This intensive course has two components: The first, conversation, will consist of the preparation of dialogues, debates, and in-class discussions in Russian. The second, grammar, will be based on an accompanying grammar text, and on short compositions that draw on material covered in the text, and on videotapes from contemporary Soviet media. The course objectives are: to develop a familiarity with the more subtle and complex aspects of Russian grammar; to develop an active vocabulary in practical, everyday topics, particularly those topics which will prepare students for travel to Russia; to refine composition skills. Selected readings in poetry and short stories provide a cultural component that complements grammar and conversation. This third-year Russian course is equivalent to Russian 0400 and 0410.
