Financial Aid

SUMMER INSTITUTION TUITION SCHOLARSHIPS (for all languages):

A number of full and partial tuition scholarships will be available to all applicants. Sources include funding from SSRC (Social Science Research Council), ACLS (American Council of Learned Societies), REES, and SLI scholarships. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a) high academic quality, and b) financial need.


FOREIGN LANGUAGE AREA STUDIES FELLOWSHIP (for all languages):

Open to graduate students working toward their M.A. or Ph.D. in any field. The target language must relate to the student's research and/or professional goals. A number of awards will include tuition and stipend; other will provide tuition only.



Housing

8-Week Intensive Russian and 6-Week Intensive East European Language in Pittsburgh:

  • The cost of the dormitory in summer 2005 was $24.80 per night. The 2006 figure has not yet been announced. The summer program staff can provide information on how to secure a subleased room or apartment. Please email or call for information.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Residence in a dormitory is not obligatory. The dorm is made available primarily to out-of-state or guest students. Residents of Pittsburgh are not obligated to live on campus, but take their lunch with other program participants on designated dates.
  • There is no dining program available for the summer.

5+5 Pittsburgh/Moscow Program and 6+4 Pittsburgh/Poland Program:

  • The same information is applicable for the time in Pittsburgh.
  • For the time students spend abroad, students are required to live in a dormitory which will be provided.
